Things I Wish I was Better at as a Beauty Business Owner

Running a beauty business may seem like a dream come true, but the reality is far from the picture-perfect facade. As a beauty business owner, I've come to realize that acknowledging and working on our weaknesses is essential for personal and business growth. In this blog post, I'm opening up about my vulnerabilities and how I've learned to navigate them. Join me on this candid journey as I share my top three weaknesses and the strategies I've adopted to overcome them.

Weakness #1: Creativity - Embracing Aesthetics with the Help of Tools

I'll be the first to admit it - I am the least creative person I know! As a beauty business owner, aesthetics play a vital role in attracting clients and creating a brand identity. But rather than letting my lack of creativity hold me back, I've learned to leverage the power of available tools.

Enter Etsy, Canva, editors, and AI - my creative saviors! These platforms have become my go-to companions in designing eye-catching graphics, captivating social media posts, and engaging website content. Collaborating with talented designers on Etsy has allowed me to infuse a touch of artistry into my brand, making it visually appealing without the need for a natural artistic talent.

While creativity may not come naturally to me, I've realized that with the right tools and a willingness to explore new ideas, I can still create a stunning and aesthetically pleasing business that resonates with my audience.

Weakness #2: Procrastination - Holding Myself Accountable

Ah, procrastination - the nemesis of productivity that many of us struggle with. As a beauty business owner, it's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day operations and put off essential tasks for later. But I've learned that accountability is the key to overcoming this weakness.

To combat procrastination, I've adopted a structured approach to my workdays. Creating a well-organized to-do list and setting realistic deadlines has been a game-changer.

It's crucial to remember that perfection is not the goal; progress is. By holding myself accountable and taking small steps each day, I've managed to conquer procrastination and stay focused on achieving my business objectives.

Weakness #3: Social Skills - Balancing Work and Networking

As a beauty business owner, I must confess - I love to work! However, my social skills are not as strong as my work ethic. Engaging in small talk or being part of casual conversations is not my forte. But as I've learned, networking is a vital part of growing my business.

To strike a balance between my love for work and the importance of networking, I've made a conscious effort to be more open and approachable. Stepping out of my comfort zone has allowed me to connect with like-minded individuals in the beauty industry and forge valuable partnerships.

Additionally, I've discovered that networking doesn't have to be forced or uncomfortable. By attending industry events and workshops related to business growth, I get to talk about the things I'm passionate about, which makes social interactions more enjoyable.

Conclusion

Embracing our weaknesses is not a sign of failure; rather, it's a testament to our willingness to grow and improve. As a beauty business owner, I've learned that it's okay to lack creativity, struggle with procrastination, or face challenges in networking.

By leveraging available tools, being accountable, and stepping out of my comfort zone, I've managed to turn these weaknesses into strengths. Remember, it's all about progress, not perfection. So, let's celebrate our imperfections and continue growing our businesses together.
